UPDATE:

The identity of the priest in this article has been discovered. Predictably, the identity of Father Peter Hellermann was not released by the Catholic Church, but was discovered in his own parish.

When interviewed, one of his parishners commented "If you get divorced and remarry, you can't take communion. But someone convicted of molesting children can celebrate Mass for the rest of his life."

In another strange development (in a case that seemingly could not get any stranger) apparently after authorizing Father Hellermann's transfer to a Munich church for rehab, (then) Archbishop Joe Ratzinger was promoted to Cardinal and moved to the Vatican, where he was put in charge of .... wait for it, wait for it ..... reviewing sexual abuse cases - including the case of Father Peter Hellermann.

Thirty years after his first crime, Father Hellermann has been suspended. Joe Ratzinger, (aka Pope benedict XVI) has yet to comment on his participation in this case.
