A new National Anthem
Let me say this about that.
What in the hell is happening in America? Where is that self reliant, hard working, courageous country I saw on September 12, 2001? Somehow, in eight short years we have gone from the proudest nation in the history of man – to – a debt riddled, politically correct, pussy-boy, quasi welfare state. In other words, America is the new France.Â
Something, maybe everything, has got to change.
Now before you politico’s start bracing yourselves for a message from a red state or a blue state, be advised that I…   am not a member of the Republican party, nor the Democratic Party, nor the Independent Party, nor the Green Party, nor the Pity Party. I am a political agnostic who thinks ALL political parties would do more good as bridge clubs. I must admit, however that I have a passing relationship with the “Shambo’s Get-Your-Head-Outta-Your-Ass Party.” Time for a good dose of common sense and I have a proposal of how we might bring some much needed sunlight to this situation.
Let’s rewrite the National Anthem.Â
Before we start, let’s review the words to the current National Anthem. You all have been to a baseball game or a NASCAR race, so I know you know the words. Let’s all sing along:
“O say can you see, by the dawn’s early light What so proudly we hailed at twilight’s last gleaming Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O’er the land of the free, and – the – home – of – the – brave.”Â
It’s a great anthem, but it really doesn’t reflect the current state of America. The government is now the majority stockholder in General Motors, the country’s largest insurance company has been bailed out with taxpayer funds, banks are failing left and right and are being taken over by the Treasury, and mortgage foreclosures are at an all time high. Things are so bad that Brett Favre has had to come out of retirement – again!Â
Until we can get the Federal Government to quit bailing-out evey loser in the country, I propose we adopt new words for our National Anthem:
“O how could it be, that we have lost the sight That the Feds have bought out, this crap that’s still steaming Whose bad debt has left scars and a perilous blight The economy’s been botched, we must have been dreaming And the treasury’s gone bare, the banks full of air What we need to do now is just grow a pair So, with the Fed’s plan the road has been paved From the ‘Land of the Free’, to – the – land - of – de – praved”. Â
“Gentlemen, start your engines.”
And, that’s all I have to say about that.
